Abstract:The highest density populationsettlements in each district Surakarta ,that is Jayengan Village,Setabelan Village, Kepatihan Wetan Village,Kerten Village, and the Pasar Kliwon Village exploit pathway as a public space . More than to the accessibility infrastructure movement of people or goods, pathway also has the function of active open space. Pathway should only facilitate the activities of public, but in reality, it is private activities take place in the pathwaytoo. This leads to the disruption of the function of pathway as aksesbiltas infrastructure and public space utilization because of the private activities.The problem that occurs is the onset of the flow of traffic delays, reduced pathway space as a public space, and increase the density of existing buildings such as the trading business buildings at the pathway , so the purpose of this study is to identify the suitability of used the pathwayas a public space in areas withthe highest level population density settlements in Surakarta by using quantitative research methods .The result is a way to know the suitability of used the pathway as a public spacein areas withthe highest level density of population settlements in Surakarta.

Pengaruh Tingkat Partisipasi Masyarakat Terhadap Perubahan Fisik Rumah Dan Lingkungan Dalam Program Bedah Kampung Di Surakarta

Abstract: Housing Delivery System in Indonesia is conducted by formal and informal system. Formal Delivery System is usually conducted by developer. While informal housing delivery system is conducted through community empowerment and place community as stakeholder. This concept is usually called Community-based Development. In this concept, participation of community is required in each development step. One of improvement programs of community-based housing and settlement development concept is Bedah Kampung Program. Bedah Kampung is a program which involving various sectors and based on partisipatory planning of community. Government assistance throughout Bedah Kampung Program is in the form of stimulant gran, that can be used for refinement or improvement of housing, social infrastructure, supporting facilities for the area. In Kelurahan Danukusuman, Bedah Kampung Program was implemented in 2010 in Kampung Kajen, which is considered to be successful and becomes an example of community involvement in every steps of development processes. This study aims to identify how implications of level of participation of Kampung Kajen’s community towards the improvement of housing and environment condition on Bedah Kampung Program. This research used deductive approach, while type of this research is quantitative research. Analytical method which applied in this research is quantitative analytical method. Result from this research indicates that there is no implication between level of participations towards improvement of  the physical of housing and environment after Bedah Kampung Program. In other word, participation level of community pre-implementation phase, implementation, and post-implementation doesn’t have influence to transformation of housing and  environments’ artificial in Kampung Kajen.

Abstract: Image of  area is overview of space or special features in an area that stick in one’s mind. Image of area also acts as a shaper of identity and enhancer of  attractiveness of an area, even becoming one of the important factors in the marketing of an area. As one of the main corridors in Surakarta, Jalan Slamet Riyadi is one of the major road corridors in downtown with high intensity and varied activities. This is a favorable situation for the development of street vendors. No wonder if the presence of quite a lot of street vendors and scattered along the corridor. By the condition of the street vendors who occupy the location that is easily seen and is quite a lot, it can bring up an image of where the vendors are located. The purpose of this study is to identify the role of  physical characteristics of the street vendors in shaping the image of the corridor area in Jalan Slamet Riyadi. This study used qualitative research methods with a descriptive approach. The results showed that the physical characteristics of the street vendors that is, aspects of the location, physical facilities of trading and distribution pattern turned out to have a major role in displaying the image of the street vendors.

Dampak Pusat Perbelanjaan Modern  Mall Solo Square Terhadap Sistem Transportasi Kawasan Sekitar

Abstract:The research from impact of modern shopping center Solo Square to the neighbourhood transport system going from a lot of problem in traffic. It makes more commercial place increase in some potential area especially in Surakarta. For answer this phenomenon and fill the demand of people needs, many developer or investor tries to expand their business scale not only for local people but also for other cities around (regional area). One of modern regional trade area in Surakarta is Solo Square Mall. This shopping mall built in one of Surakarta’s main street. Which neighborhood has many land use functions. Because of its place, Solo Square Mall not only succeed to solve trade and services problem but also makes a new problem about transportation system. The type of the research is descriptrive qualitative type, which is primer data from observation on field and random interview person, also for secondary data is from masterplan cities document and v/s ratio roads calculation. Descriptrive Qualitative Analysis describe the impact of Solo Square Mall sistem transportation area. Which is sistem activity of land use and land intensity, network sistem ( road class, road dimension), also movement sistem (intersection road performance around the delineation place). From comparation data area between past and present, makes a result that Solo Square Mall give an impact traffic on transportation sistem in neighbourhood area, especially in movement and activity sistem.

Abstract: Urban growth  has caused urbanisation  and other problem  in cities, such as competition, the existance of low income citizen, increasing need of affordable and liveable housing. The lack of liveable housing for all cittizens has appearing slums area in city. The Governor has made a programe to overcome prblems  slums area by build some towers of flat rent housing. The existance of Flat rent housing excepted could reduce amount of slums area and become sustainable housing for low income citizens. In fact, the existance of flat housing also has some post-occupancy problem in some aspects, due to of post-occuopancy problem we need a research of the sustanablity of flat rent housung as a sustainable housing in Surakarta.This research approached by deductive-inductive which is theory has based in election of variabels than preliminary study has used to produce some proper indicators to be used in analysis. Analysis technique that used in this research is scoring analysis of each variabel of each aspect of susnainable housing to generate a grade of sustanabilty flat rent housing in Surakarta.As result of this research, is a grade of sustainable flats in Surakarta in each aspect ( economic, social and environtment). Be known that in economic and social aspect each of flat rent housing in Surakarta are sustainable, but in environtment aspect still need tobe improved. The administrator of flat housing has important responsiblity in improving the sustanablityof flat rent housing. The responsiblity such as improvement of housing quality and overcome problems which appear in every flats, so that flat rent housing in Surakarta could be sustainable. Beside that, the responsibilty of dwellers in paying rent also impacting the programes of building maintenance.

Abstract: The design of the town square as a part of the urban design element is motivated by the need to neutralize the pollution of urban air and the need for social interaction. The current position of Klaten City Square is very strategic because it is located in the downtown area and is traversed by the main way that connecting Klaten City with the surrounding area. It is potentially in the development of regional economy. On the other hand, a problem that usually happen is about the economic development of the city square area, if it cannot be controlled, then the economic activity of the town square can interfere the main function of the square region as a green open space (vegetation area) and as a media of social interaction. Therefore, it is desirable to have a method of urban design based on a study of urban design elements that are directed through the concept of social community approach , so that all activities in the area of ​​the town square must be controlled so as not to interfere with social interaction in the area of ​​the town square. The results from the design of the Klaten town square is the development of town square area of ​​Klaten who prioritize for social interaction through the control activities that may disturb vegetation and social interaction. The development will be applied on every element of urban design, so that each element is capable of supporting the social interaction of community.
